ENTRY REMODEL • PORTLAND OREGON
This existing Portland home was in desperate need of a remodel. The entry that was deeply recessed and difficult to find from the outside, while inside the door would sweep the home owner and guests off the narrow hallway to fall into the sunken living room.
A Remodel solves the problems
The new entry introduced a timber framed porch fitted with a skylight to provide protection from the frequent Portland rain while still allowing natural light to reach the front door. The front door was moved forward towards the street so that it was visible from the driveway while also providing a nice vestibule inside where the owner could greet their guests comfortably. Outside the remodel added a series of paved terraces to mitigate the steep terrain while climbing up to the home’s main floor.
